Job Description:
Summary The purpose of this position is to provide direct and
comprehensive primary, preventive, and therapeutic medical and
nursing care accrosss the patient life span, i.e., geriatric,
adult, adolescent, pediatric, and infant patients and their
families. Responsibilities Conducts a health and developmental
history from the patient and/or family member and performs a
physical examination. Orders and performs screenings and diagnostic
tests and procedures and interprets test results and analyzes all
collected data discriminate between normal and abnormal findings to
identify all stages of health care needs. Makes diagnosis and
decisions concerning medical and nursing care needs. Prescribe
medications as delineated in the approved clinical privileges for a
variety of symptoms and illnesses. Meet with other health
professionals to develop treatment protocols, standards of practice
and policies. Requirements Conditions of Employment Selectee may be

the background investigation process. Qualifications To qualify for
this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or
education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which

professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community;

the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree,
associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional
nursing educational program is required. This education must have
been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education
(external link), Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia
Educational Programs (external link), Accreditation Commission for
Midwifery Education (external link), or an accrediting body
recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at
the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing
School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of
Foreign Nursing Schools (external link) is required for individuals
who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Advanced Practice Nurse
Positions: For Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) positions, applicants
must possess a graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an
accredited educational program in the area of expertise or
specialty indicated by the position. Areas of specialties for
positions include, but are not limited to, Acute Care, Anesthesia,
Community Health, Family, Geriatric, Home Health, Midwifery,
Neonatal, Oncology, Pediatric, Psychiatric, Allergy and Immunology,
Women's Health, Cardiovascular, Dermatology, Occupational Health,
Orthopedic, Respiratory, or other specialties identified for the
position. AND Licensure: For all grade levels and positions,
applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure
Examination (external link). In addition, they must possess a
current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as
a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the
Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Additional License Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse
Positions: Applicants for Advanced Practice Nurse positions must be
licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the
Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in
the clinical specialty required by the position. In addition to the
Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications
stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate
1 year of specialized experience that has equipped me with the
particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform
the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related
to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-11
level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy
announcement. Examples Include: provide direct and comprehensive
primary, preventive and therapeutic medical and nursing care for
patients, as well as counseling and/or coordinating services and
participating with other disciplines in reviewing the program.
Taking case histories, conducting physical examinations, and
ordering laboratory studies during clinic visits. May carry out
special procedures such as giving injections or other medication,
apply or change dressing, or suture minor laceration. Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to
the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates
must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade
level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted
Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification
requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the
announcement. Education This position has an education requirement.
