stage of your career.Medical Cardiology Stepdown Unit ("5 Heart")
Profile:
- Patient Population: Patients with acute and chronic heart
failure, acute coronary syndrome, post heart catheter procedures
(stent placements, etc.), pulmonary hypertension, and all types of
arrhythmias.
- Type of work: pre/post right heart catheterization and ICD
placement care, pacemaker placements and post-ablation care,
pre/post cardiac catheter care, pre/post coronary intervention
care, assistance with bedside cardioversions and transcutaneous
pacing for symptomatic heart blocks, maintenance of ICU-initiated
drips, and work with common medications specific to the care of
this patient population.
- Beds: 40
- Skills Pathways: Working on 5 Heart provides Registered Nurses
with the opportunity to play an integral role in the Team-Based
Care model, and it provides exceptional foundational experience in
medical care and telemetry for cardiac patients that may lend to
future skills pathways to intensive care units or other nursing
specialties, depending on the nurse's individual career

learn!Job Summary and QualificationsThe Progressive Care Registered
Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care.
In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides
pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an
advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient
experience. What you will do in this role:
- Assess patient condition during admission and during each
shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient
status.
- Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical
provider.
- Document the administration of care in the patient medical
record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Perform the administration of prescribed medications and
monitors response.
- Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment
used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.What
qualifications you will need:
- Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enroll in
a BSN or advanced degree program and obtain a BSN within 5 years of
hire date into RN position. Grandfathering will be accepted between
departments and Mission Health entities. Exemptions, or extensions,
may be approved by the facility CNO and reported out to the CNO
Council members. Each facility will ensure tracking of exemptions
should this information be needed. RNs with 10 years or more of
experience are exempt.
- Preferred Education: Masters in Nursing.
- Required License/Certifications: Must have and maintain current
licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of
Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply,
licensee should confirm with NCBON
- Certificate: BLS Healthcare Provider
- Preferred License/Certifications: National Certification in
area of specialty
- Preferred Experience: One year hospital nursing
