Minimum Qualifications
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.


Preferred Qualifications


  • 1-2 years of experience providing timely support for the work of others in a professional manner, including assessing/diagnosing the need, and identifying specific ways to meet those needs.
  • 1-2 years experience working in a teaching center or similar unit at a research university.
  • At least two years of experience teaching in higher education, preferably at a large, public research university - and a demonstrated commitment to improving teaching on the basis of research on teaching and learning.
  • 1-2 years of experience managing multiple projects at once.



    Position Summary
    The University of Georgia seeks an organized and thoughtful individual to join the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) as a Coordinator of Faculty and Graduate Student Development. The CTL is a unit of the Office of Instruction, whose central mission is to provide university-wide leadership, collaboration, and support on matters related to instruction. The Coordinator of Faculty and Graduate Student Development reports to the Associate Director for Teaching and Learning, and collaborates with other CTL educational developers. At the CTL, Coordinators work under the guidance of their supervisor to develop and execute plans and protocols for effective and efficient operations in their area. They manage and oversee the implementation of programs and services, coordinate and support external facing initiatives, cultivate and maintain relationships with individuals from campus partner units, provide training, consultations, and support for individuals across campus, collaborate with their CTL colleagues, and more.

    The individual filling this position will join the CTL team in supporting instruction across all UGA schools and colleges. The instructional development services that may be included in this individual's portfolio could include project management and coordination, one-on-one teaching-related consultations, facilitation of mid-semester formative evaluations of teaching, execution of specific CTL programs, development of help resources for teaching and learning technology, and support for instructional use of our learning management system.


    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

    • Practical knowledge of Brightspace by D2L and the use of learning technology in teaching.
    • Practical knowledge of the basic (evidence-based) principles of effective teaching in higher education.
    • Ability to provide timely support for the work of others in a professional manner, including assessing/diagnosing the need, and identifying specific ways to meet those needs.
    • Ability to identify and apply relevant research on teaching and learning to specific teaching situations in the higher education context.
    • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and project management skills, including the ability to attend to detail and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
    • Excellence in teaching, instructional design, and/or educational development in higher education - preferably at a large public research university.

        Contribute to the execution of educational development programs and services for faculty and graduate students (e.g., conducting one-on-one consultations and/or mid-semester formative evaluations of teaching, coordination of the Faculty Learning Community program, GradTeach Certificate workshops and cohort leadership, review of Learning Technologies Grant applications, etc.).
