Job Description:
This position is responsible for the management, execution, and
supervision of roadway, drainage, right-of-way, and other
infrastructure maintenance contract services, including all
accessory activities and a wide variety of service requests and
initial site investigations. In addition, it provides field support
to Engineering Assets Management Operation. The position provides
infrastructure and right-of-way maintenance services within the
guidelines of County and departmental procedures and regulations,
accepted engineering standards and surveying methods, state
guidelines, and approved development & construction plans, and
manages the effective use of assigned resources to improve
organizational productivity and customer service. Provides complex
and responsible support to the Assistant Director, Engineering
Maintenance and works with co-workers, employees, private
engineers, contractors, developers, surveyors, other City
Departments, state & federal agencies, and the public.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Engineering Science,
or Civil Engineering Technology or any equivalent combination of
education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite
knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Experience: Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in
public works maintenance operations management with emphasis on
drainage & roadway infrastructure & related contracts management,
construction, or engineering and operations, including three (3)
years at a supervisory level & contract management.
Performance Aptitudes:
Physical Abilities: Must possess mobility to work in the field;
strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical
work; to sit, stand, and walk on level, uneven, or slippery
surfaces; frequently reach, twist, turn, kneel, bend, stoop, squat,
crouch, grasp and make repetitive hand movements in the performance
of daily duties; to climb and descend ladders, operate varied hand
and power tools and construction equipment, and operate a motor
vehicle to visit various City sites; and vision to inspect and
operate equipment. The job involves fieldwork requiring frequent
walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards.
Finger dexterity is needed to operate and repair tools and
equipment. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push,
and pull materials and objects averaging a weight of 30 pounds or
heavier weights of up to 50 pounds on a frequent/occasional basis,
in all cases with the use of proper equipment and/or assistance
from other staff.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive
and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, and
visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to
communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Work in the field and be exposed to loud
noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather
conditions, road hazards, vibration, chemicals, mechanical and/or
electrical hazards, hazardous physical substances and fumes, dust,
and air contaminants. Employees may interact with upset staff
and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and
enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
